Bathroom Stencil Reveal + $50 Stencil Giveaway
Stencil1
One of my monthly goals in September (see post HERE) was to stencil one of the walls in our hall bathroom. Well, I'm done and we also hung a driftwood mirror from Hobby Lobby (can't beat the 50% off all mirrors sale!) and a new light fixture from Lowes. I still have a lot of work to do on this bathroom, so you'll be seeing more posts from me on it! I want to paint the vanity, new faucet, purchase a new shower curtain, floating shelves (DIY), new towels/towel hooks, etc. This bathroom is going to get a full makeover!

Stencil2
The stencil I used was the Serenity Stencil in Small Scale from Cutting Edge Stencils. It took me about 6 hours to stencil the one wall in our bathroom and I would say it is about a medium sized wall. The first row took me a little time to get used to the stencil and rolling, but it got faster as I got more confident with what I was doing. You'll also want to have some of the wall paint on hand to go back and touch up little areas if it bleeds through the stencil.

I need to figure out a better way to take photos of our bathroom, because there is no window or natural light in the room. If anyone has any tips, let me know... because, I want to share some more reveal posts on the bathroom with better quality photos!

Here is a photo of the light fixture from the Lowes site, it is the allen + roth Winbrell 3-Light Brushed Nickel vanity light. I wanted something clean and that wouldn't hide the stencil (hence why I went with clear glass shades).

This is the birchwood mirror that I purchased at Hobby Lobby.

We also purchased our paint for the stencil from Lowes and went with Valspar 6004-1A Woodlawn Bedroom White for the wall color and 6004-1B Woodlawn Colonial Gray for the stencil color.

You can find the $50 GIVEAWAY for you to win your very own STENCIL at the bottom of this post, so keep reading!

Thanks to Cutting Edge Stencils for sponsoring this review. I received a wall stencil in exchange for my completely honest review.

Bible Journaling
BibleJournal_650
My blogging friend Bethany from Southern Couture has been bible journaling for a long time and has shared several projects on her blog. She is going to launch her first e-book, Adventures in Bible Journaling at the end of this month! I have always been interested in bible journaling and I was excited when Bethany sent me her e-book to read and to share my thoughts with you. She makes the entire process seem so simple and explains how to calm your fears before you get started. She goes over which supplies to buy, which some of them I had never heard of, such as gelato! At the end of the book she gives tips on mistakes to avoid and how to be successful in bible journaling. This makes me want to go out and buy a bible journal ASAP!

There will be 3 packages buyers can choose from:
1. eBook
2. eBook with multiple printables
3. eBook, multiple printables, and 7 tutorial videos

Stay tuned, the launch will be on Oct. 25th and I will share when her e-book is available!

I finished 'Station Eleven' this month by Emily St. John Mandel. This was quite a read, given it was a apocalyptic plague book. This book makes me want to read Stephen King's The Stand again! It really made me realize how much we take for granted in our life... including simple things like chocolate chip cookies. Can you imagine not ever having a chocolate chip cookie again? Ok, maybe losing electricity, the internet, running water, etc. would be worse... but, this book really makes you appreciate what you have and how easily something like a terrible strand of a swine flu (or as in this book, the Georgia Flu) could spread and cause a pandemic such as what happened in this book.

The next two books I plan to read are Giddy Up, Eunice and It Ends With Us.

SoCozy sent me another HUGE box full of goodies. I just love these products and it is ALL I use for my kids! The boo! leave-in spray was something new, it is supposed to scare away lice, naturally! I will definitely be using it if we have a lice scare at school and it doesn't hurt to have something like this on hand. I was also sent some products for ME, from Juara and One Love Organics. Juana sent a Candlenut Body Creme that smells SO good, Clover Flower & Turmeric Youth Serum that I love to wear at night and their Turmeric Antioxidant Radiance Mask. If you follow my blog, you know I love a good face mask! One Love Organics sent me a Vitamin E Eye Balm that I also wear at night. A little of this goes a long way, but my eyes look so refreshed in the morning!

5 Ways to Bring Spring Into Your Home

The weather here in St. Louis has gone from 70 degrees to tornado watches/warnings and now to possible snow/ice this weekend. Whew! I am SO ready for Spring and for Daylight Saving Time. Today I'm sharing with you how to bring Spring to your home sooner with 5 Ways To Bring Spring Into Your Home . Bringing a little Spring into your home is rather easy. You don't need to change up your entire decor, at least not yet... What I try to do is add little touches here and there. 1. Spring Wreaths One way that I bring Spring into my home is by placing a Spring wreath on my front door or on some of the interior doors in the home. My absolute favorite Spring wreath that I've done is my Split Pea Wreath below, but I'm currently working on a Tulip wreath which I'll be sharing in a couple of weeks! I'm also sharing a couple of other Spring wreaths that I've made below: Split Pea Wreath with Burlap Bow Some other Spring wreaths I've designed:   Simple Spring Hoop Wrea...

DIY Shutter from Bi-Fold Door

I scored a louvered bi-fold closet door at the dump a few weeks back.  I pulled up to the re-use buildings (where people can leave stuff that's still good for others to pick up) and almost crowed when I saw the wood bi-fold door in there.  I leapt out of my car only to find someone already had their hands on it... Crap!  The girl who was holding it laughed when she saw me jump out of my car and said "take it if you want it, I've got enough projects on the go.  I know that look in your eye". LOL - a fellow DIY'er!   Yay for me!!! I knew I was going to make shutters from these panels but the panels were too narrow for the pass through window I had in mind, so I dreamed up a way to make them wider.  Luckily, there was a wood joint in between a top and bottom louvered panel so it was super easy to cut it down length-wise.
