Neutral Heart Wreath for V-Day {12 Months of Wreaths}

HeartWreathRoom1_650
Hi everyone! Welcome to the first month of 12 Months of Wreaths. In the past, I have done other '12 Months of' series, such as my Freezer Meals series in 2014 and my Drinks series in 2015. In 2016, I decided to take a break from the series and I did the quarterly Silhouette Challenge instead. I've missed this series and decided to bring it back this year and I even have two other bloggers joining me (plus, some guest bloggers will be joining us from time to time!). So, be sure to check out all of our wreaths each month this year!

This month, I wanted to work on a wreath with a Valentine's Day theme. I've been really into neutrals lately in my home, so I came up with the idea of a Neutral Heart Wreath for Valentine's Day! I went to Hobby Lobby and looked for neutral papers in their scrapbook section. I found several papers with whites, golds, browns, etc. It was a lot of fun selecting the papers and then I got to work cutting out heart shapes on my Silhouette machine. After cutting the hearts, I glued everything to a embroidery hoop! It was really easy and this wreath looks wonderful on my newly painted white door with the gold monogram on the center of it.

Now I will share with you how I created this gorgeous wreath!

How to Create a Neutral Heart Wreath for Valentine's Day:
Untitled Untitled
First, you'll want to find several different heart shapes to use in Silhouette Studio. I made them a couple of different sizes to add some variety to the wreath. You'll want to set your cut settings differently for the type of paper you are cutting. I had a variety of papers with different thicknesses.

Spray paint your embroidery hoop white. You'll want to tie the knot for your 'hanger' before gluing the hearts on. I used a cordless hot glue gun to adhere the hearts to the hoop. Be sure to overlap the heart shapes while you glue them down.

This is a close up of some of the layering I did. I tried to vary the texture, pattern, color and size quite a bit.

And, this is how it looked when I was done!

5 Ways to Bring Spring Into Your Home

The weather here in St. Louis has gone from 70 degrees to tornado watches/warnings and now to possible snow/ice this weekend. Whew! I am SO ready for Spring and for Daylight Saving Time. Today I'm sharing with you how to bring Spring to your home sooner with 5 Ways To Bring Spring Into Your Home . Bringing a little Spring into your home is rather easy. You don't need to change up your entire decor, at least not yet... What I try to do is add little touches here and there. 1. Spring Wreaths One way that I bring Spring into my home is by placing a Spring wreath on my front door or on some of the interior doors in the home. My absolute favorite Spring wreath that I've done is my Split Pea Wreath below, but I'm currently working on a Tulip wreath which I'll be sharing in a couple of weeks! I'm also sharing a couple of other Spring wreaths that I've made below: Split Pea Wreath with Burlap Bow Some other Spring wreaths I've designed:   Simple Spring Hoop Wrea...

Thankful Tree #PAWsomeGifts #ClausAndPaws

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser, MARS Incorporated. All opinions are mine alone. #PAWsomeGifts #ClausAndPaws #CollectiveBias This Thanksgiving, I wanted to do something special for our cat, Rose. I have a Thanksgiving light up tree that I put up every year, but I wanted to turn it into a 'thankful tree' to appreciate our cat. I created some leaves for the tree that we could hang up on it every time Rose did something good. If Rose earned 5 leaves on the tree, we would fill her  Temptations® Snacky Mouse  with her favorite treats from MARS Pet at Walmart . If she was bad, we would take a leaf away... Rose tends to 'sneak' into our garage at times when I'm loading it up with the kids backpacks in the morning or unloading groceries. So, the thankful tree is to encourage good behavior and to show her that we appreciate her and are thankful for her good behavior! Shop for Rewards for your Cat   I visited my local Walmart store...
