November Monthly Goals

IMG_8976
Happy Halloween everyone! We are going to have weather in the mid-70's today, so trick or treating tonight will be nice! Everyone enjoy your day and stay safe... I know I'll be stuffing my face full of my favorite Halloween candies (Snickers, PB Cups, etc., etc.) all day. ;)

This year I've decided to set three monthly goals for myself each month. These will be lighter goals that I should be able to finish within the month. I used to do yearly resolutions, but I wanted to try out monthly goals this year. I am really enjoying it so far and I feel like I accomplished a lot with my January-October Goals. The recap for my October Goals will be at the bottom of this post.

Here are my November Goals!

1. Decorate House for Christmas

Holiday Home 2016 250
I have a Holiday Home Tour I am doing with some other bloggers in early December and I wanted to get a head start on my Christmas decor. I always decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving, but we are going to be busy and it'd be nice to decorate BEFORE Thanksgiving for once.

2. Autumn's Birthday Trip (Great Wolf Lodge)
fun-family-vacation-great
Autumn's birthday is this month and I planned a trip to the Great Wolf Lodge with the birthday package for her birthday in lieu of a class party or family party at home. I do have the trip booked, but I need to finalize the plans for it and I need to buy/wrap her gifts still. Great Wolf Lodge is a water park in Kansas City, about 4.5 hours away from us in St. Louis. We will also spend one day on the trip touring Kansas City, too! We have done the Lego World, Aquarium, etc. in years past. This year I am thinking we'll visit Hallmark's Kaleidoscope and eat at Fitz's again, which is a restaurant with electric trains that drop down your food at your table. I can't wait!

3. Christmas Outfits, Photos & Order Cards

Last year I didn't do Christmas cards. I used to really enjoy doing Christmas cards, but as the kids have gotten older I just feel everything is so busy and it is one thing I just don't want to deal with. I thought perhaps if I planned ahead this year, it wouldn't seem like such a chore. Here is a photo from Autumn's fist Christmas, oh I miss the Gymboree outfit days with the kids!

How did I do on my October Goals?

1. Finish Chicago Marathon!

Done! You can read all about my experience with the Chicago marathon HERE.

2. Get Back into Reading the Bible
Untitled
Done! I will continue with my prayer journal and reading Jesus Calling. I've really enjoyed adding Jesus Calling to my day. I've also been reading Giddy Up, Eunice and it's a really good spiritual read, too!

3. Date Day with the Hubs
Untitled
Brian took off work on our anniversary and we went out for breakfast and enjoyed some gooey butter cake afterwards. We also went to the mall and I got a new watch band for my Apple Watch for an anniversary gift. We didn't do much else, because poor Brian was feeling under the weather. So, we went back home and he rested... it was also the day before we flew out for Chicago for my marathon, so it was probably good we didn't do too much! We'll have to plan another date date when he's feeling better!

And, my friend Lauren from Mom Home Guide is also sharing her monthly goals today!

5 Ways to Bring Spring Into Your Home

The weather here in St. Louis has gone from 70 degrees to tornado watches/warnings and now to possible snow/ice this weekend. Whew! I am SO ready for Spring and for Daylight Saving Time. Today I'm sharing with you how to bring Spring to your home sooner with 5 Ways To Bring Spring Into Your Home . Bringing a little Spring into your home is rather easy. You don't need to change up your entire decor, at least not yet... What I try to do is add little touches here and there. 1. Spring Wreaths One way that I bring Spring into my home is by placing a Spring wreath on my front door or on some of the interior doors in the home. My absolute favorite Spring wreath that I've done is my Split Pea Wreath below, but I'm currently working on a Tulip wreath which I'll be sharing in a couple of weeks! I'm also sharing a couple of other Spring wreaths that I've made below: Split Pea Wreath with Burlap Bow Some other Spring wreaths I've designed:   Simple Spring Hoop Wrea...

Creating a Wider Doorway

My kitchen has no outside walls. That means it has no windows directly to the outdoors. UGH. I love light, I love sunshine streaming through windows and lighting up my house. This was not the case in my kitchen. Last year I renovated the space and added a pass through window in one of the walls.  Now the sun can reach the kitchen - hooray!!  But it is still not a terribly well-lit space. Cue my desire to open the wall between the living and dining rooms - the dining room is the brightest room in the house.  That, however, will be a big job because the wall is a supporting wall (at least I'm treating it that way, even if the building inspector didn't think it was).  I decided to tackle the opening from the living room into the kitchen instead since I know for sure that wall isn't supporting. Open House Sundays #10 - Cloches & Lavender

Welcome to Open House Sundays where we get a personal invitation to tour through a different blogger's house every week! This week's tour is courtesy of Cindy from Cloches and Lavender .  Cindy is one of the first bloggers I met when I began blogging, her home is brand new (she just moved in earlier this year) and it is GORGEOUS.  Cindy has the best faux painting skills in blogland.  Her pieces are beautifully done using appliqués in a lot of cases - they truly look antique!   Enjoy this Christmas tour of her new home! ***************** Read more »
