The Creative Corner Link Up Party & Weekly Recap - 02/26/17

Welcome back to our DIY/Craft Link Up Party! Thank you for stopping by every week! Today's Feature is Welcoming Spring with Farmhouse Florals   by Worthing Court . I like to share a little recap of my week at the start of each party: Last  Sunday , Autumn had World Thinking Day for scouts. Her troop did Lebanon, we did a swap of the Lebanese flag and had Baklava for a dessert. The girls got to learn about several other countries, such as Belgium, Egypt, etc. Nathan FINISHED cub scouts! We have decided not to continue on with boy scouts. It was a really hard decision after 5 years in cub scouts (and Brian is an Eagle scout!), but we are trying to cut back on some of the kids activities. With Nathan having karate 3 days a week and Autumn in dance competition... IT'S A LOT. We don't get a lot of nights at home as a family. Boy scouts was going to be A LOT more, too... so, it is really sad, but I think the best decision. Nathan also won 2nd Place in the ...

Tips on How to Decorate Bookshelves around a TV

Earlier this month I told  you  that I would be doing ONE goal every month in 2017 and that my first goal was to decorate my new Liatorp shelves from IKEA . Honestly, when I took this on I had NO idea how much space these shelves held... but, IT IS A LOT. I landed up shopping at Hobby Lobby and Target for most of the items. However, when Commercial Silk contacted me about reviewing one of their products, it couldn't have been at a better time! When selecting my item from Commercial Silk , I knew I had to order them in a size that would fit the shelves. I found these adorable Artificial Grasses in Faux Wooden Boxes and they are just the perfect size. What was even more perfect is that they came as a set of 6! I am really pleased with the quality, they look real inside the shelves and the faux wooden box they are in has a beautiful stain and looks like real wood. It was nice to be able to add a little greenery to the shelves, because I decorated them in mostly n...

The Creative Corner Link Up Party & Weekly Recap - 01/15/17

Welcome back to our DIY/Craft Link Up Party! Thank you for stopping by every week! Today's Feature is Simple Rustic Winter Mantel with Bottle Brush Trees   by The Happy Housie . I like to share a little recap of my week at the start of each party: This week was pretty busy, but somehow I failed to take a lot of photos. Oops! On Monday, Nathan had his D.A.R.E. graduation and he won 1st place on the essay contest. His D.A.R.E. officer even sent his essay to the governor, which was special. Nathan got to read his essay at the graduation and he also got a medal and a cute stuffed animal of the D.A.R.E. mascot! How fun! I was at Hobby Lobby picking up items for a special project that Autumn had at school and I've been eyeing this light up sign for awhile. I found out that I could use the 40% off coupon on it and I was able to purchase it for $23! Does anyone have a lightbox? I am excited to try it out and it may be going on our new IKEA shelves! This week was also Brian's birth...

2016 In Review

2016 was a year of delays.  So many things went sideways that I didn't accomplish much of what I set out to do.  What I did do was to finish up some unfinished projects and I got around to repainting the walls in my living room, dining room and home office.  I'm naming 2016 my "lighter, brighter year".   Here's my roundup for 2016. DIY Flannel Scarf #LayerOnLove

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and The Coca-Cola Company. All opinions are mine alone. #LayerOnLove #CollectiveBias What I love about Coca-Cola ®   (besides the great taste) is that they are supporting the non-profit organization One Warm Coat ®   this holiday season.  It is their mission to pair together with One Warm Coat to donate half a million free coats. They want to encourage you to give back to your community too! You can do so by donating to One Warm Coat, or by paying it forward in other ways. No matter what you do be sure to share the love on social media by using the hashtag #LayerOnLove. When I think of Layer on Love, I think about providing warmth and love to those that need it most. I wanted to share my DIY Flannel Scarf tutorial today, because when I gift my friends with these scarves during the holiday season, I always think of it as 'Layering on Love'. I feel that during the holidays, giving back is more important than ever. Half...
