12 Months of Goals - January

Abstract golden background
Here we are in the year 2017. Last year I set 3 goals every month for myself and I accomplished a lot! This year, I wanted to down play it even more and just set ONE goal for myself. However, with just one goal each month I hope to devote more time to it.

My first goal for this year is I want to start decorating the new LIATORP IKEA shelves that Brian set up around our new TV. They are bare right now, but he built it all the week before Christmas and I didn't have time to work on it.

Here is a photo of how it looks now:

Here are some ideas on how I'd like to decorate the shelves:

We have a vaulted ceiling and I really like how they hung picture frames above the shelves. I would love to do that on the one corner that is taller.

I really like how the shelves are decorated in the photo above. What's also nice is that Sarah shares 4 steps on how she achieved this look on her shelves. I think I will definitely draw out the plans on how I want to decorate them, so I don't become overwhelmed.

These shelves make me swoon, too! I love the gold elements added, because gold is one of the colors I use in our family room. I also like the vase with the wine corks, the little plants and books.

Not only do I want to decorate the shelves, I've also been working on updating the entire family room. Now that I'm taking the Christmas decorations down, I'd like to get a nice lamp for our console table and a mirror behind it. I also have a specific rug that I'd like to get for the room (the photo above shows the style of rug I am looking for in the room). I have a couple of sponsors I may contact to see if I can partner with them in exchange for some free items if I do a review. Fingers crossed on that!

We are also thinking about replacing the couches and coffee table. They are around 13 years old and have survived the baby and toddler days... but, we may hold off on the couches... I'm not sure yet. Brian has been really good at cleaning our couches and they look like new after he's done, so we could just have him clean them again. I've thought about painting the coffee table, but it has a lot of drawers (6!) and doors (4!) and I just don't know if it is worth the trouble. I saw that IKEA has a coffee table that matches our shelves that we just got and it is SO cute. It is square, with a glass top and it has four tray-like sections on the top that you can see through the glass. We will probably order it! The photo above shows what the table looks like decorated.

Another idea I have for the room is to hang track lighting or to have recesses lighting, so that we aren't relying solely on lamp lighting. This would probably be the absolute last bullet item for the room, so it is on the back burner until we get to some of the other items on my list. :)

So, to sum it up... in January I'd like to:
  • Decorate LIATORP IKEA shelves
Bonus January Items :)
  • Try to partner with a sponsor for a new lamp for console table
  • Decorate console table for everyday
  • Purchase mirror for console table from Hobby Lobby
  • Try to partner with a sponsor for a new rug in family room
  • Decide if we want to order new couches at some point or have Brian clean them
  • Order new LIATORP coffee table from IKEA
  • Track or Recessed Lighting in the room

OBVIOUSLY, not all of this will get done in January... my main goal is to get it all started, so that I can continue to work on it. I think getting at least the IKEA shelves decorated would be a good start.

What goals do you have for January?

My Invisalign Journey (Trays 9-15) and Progression Photos

Today I am going to share a little more about My Invisalign Journey with you. Back in May, I shared my first Invisalign post HERE and talked about my first 8 trays with Invisalign. Today I am going to share some information and progression photos for Trays 9-15. And, no, I am not done with Invisalign yet. After your first round of trays (I had 15 trays), they start revision trays. Unfortunately, I found out I have 18 revision trays... I am currently on tray 3 of those. I will continue to share updates as my progress continues. I talk about why I went with Invisalign and what the entire process was like in my first post (see link below). I am not going to repeat it all in this post, but I will share my progression photos with you. If you have any questions, be sure to let me know in the comments. I was so excited every time one of you tagged me and I got to read about your favorite mug! Running Goal I started training for my 10th (that's crazy!) half marathon yesterday! I haven't really set any specific goals for myself with half marathons, except to try to PR. However, I haven't PR'ed my 2:06 time in a couple years! After training ...

Y'all! I DID IT! 2016 Chicago Marathon Recap!!!

I am really excited to share this post with all of you today. I have been wanting to run a marathon for a really, really, REALLY long time. I was too afraid to do it, I was afraid I would fail. I started out running in 2009 after I had my daughter and signed up to run 500 miles in one year with friends I met on  Babycenter   I started out walking and running... but, I did it! I completed 500 miles in 2009. My first 5K was at our local zoo and then I branched out and did a Halloween 10K. After that, I signed up for my first half marathon here in St. Louis and my second half marathon was the Wine & Dine at Disney... My first half marathon time was 2:35 and my best has been 2:04 and a HUGE dream/goal of mine is to complete one in under 2:00 hours. But... first I toyed around with the idea of running a marathon.  All  of my running friends kept telling me to JUST DO IT. That I'd do just fine. But, I was sacred.... Finally, 7 years later I have RAN MY FIRST MARATHON! ...
