Monogrammed Tulip Wreath w/ Burlap Bow {12 Months of Wreaths}

Welcome back to 12 Months of Wreaths!

TulipWreath_650Hi everyone! Welcome back to our third month of 12 Months of Wreaths! I have been seeing a lot of tulip wreaths lately and I wanted to try my hand at making one myself. Wow, this wreath looks complicated, but it has been one of my quicker wreaths that I have made. I kept it simple, with a burlap bow on one side with tulip buds cascading out on both sides. I also added a script monogram 'A' to the other side. The tulip buds are already starting to pop up in my yard, so this wreath couldn't have been made at a more perfect time!

Tulip Wreath Detail Shots
DoorRoom1
I made this wreath for our front door... EXCEPT... it smooshes against our storm door when I close the door. SUCH a bummer... SO, I am really going to need to stick to 'skinny/thin' wreaths for the front door and this tulip wreath will go on the inside of our garage door instead!

I have really been in love with neutrals mixed with gold accents. I thought about spray painting the monogram 'A' gold, but decided to make it white. This wreath looks perfect with this white door.

Detail3
I made the burlap bow with burlap ribbon that has wire edges. The wire edges really are a must, if you want to shape your bow. I used my bowdabra to help me make this bow, it is such a valuable tool!

Another gorgeous detail shot of the bow, but this one shows more of the tulip buds cascading around it.

Detail2
I had to go to FOUR stores to find the perfect tulips for this wreath. Hobby Lobby had the full size tulip buds, but I finally found baby tulip buds at Michaels. I loved mixing the sizes of full and baby flowers on this grapevine wreath!

How to Make a Tulip Wreath
Make1
The supplies for this project were pretty simple:

Grapevine Wreath

Tulips (I did full size AND baby blooms)

Burlap Ribbon

Wood initial

Make3 Make2
First, you'll want to make your burlap bow and hot glue it to the wreath. Then, cut your tulip buds off the stem bunch and leave about 3", so you can tuck that piece into the grapevine wreath. I also cut off some of the greens to tuck into the grapevine wreath as well.

Make4 Make5
Tuck your tulip blooms into the grapevine wreath above and below the bow. Then, spray paint your wooden initial letter the color you want and hot glue it to the wreath. That's it! It is SO easy... I really don't think it took me more than a couple of hours!

Thanks again for joining us! We will be sharing a new wreath once a month in 2017! Be sure to stop by all of the hosts and our co-host, Mary at Real Girls Realm to see what wreath we came up with for the month!

5 Ways to Bring Spring Into Your Home

The weather here in St. Louis has gone from 70 degrees to tornado watches/warnings and now to possible snow/ice this weekend. Whew! I am SO ready for Spring and for Daylight Saving Time. Today I'm sharing with you how to bring Spring to your home sooner with 5 Ways To Bring Spring Into Your Home . Bringing a little Spring into your home is rather easy. You don't need to change up your entire decor, at least not yet... What I try to do is add little touches here and there. 1. Spring Wreaths One way that I bring Spring into my home is by placing a Spring wreath on my front door or on some of the interior doors in the home. My absolute favorite Spring wreath that I've done is my Split Pea Wreath below, but I'm currently working on a Tulip wreath which I'll be sharing in a couple of weeks! I'm also sharing a couple of other Spring wreaths that I've made below: Split Pea Wreath with Burlap Bow Some other Spring wreaths I've designed:   Simple Spring Hoop Wrea...

November Monthly Goals

Happy Halloween everyone! We are going to have weather in the mid-70's today, so trick or treating tonight will be nice! Everyone enjoy your day and stay safe... I know I'll be stuffing my face full of my favorite Halloween candies (Snickers, PB Cups, etc., etc.) all day. ;) This year I've decided to set  three monthly goals  for myself each month. These will be lighter goals that I should be able to finish within the month. I used to do yearly resolutions, but I wanted to try out monthly goals this year. I am really enjoying it so far and I feel like I accomplished a lot with my January-October Goals. The recap for my October Goals will be at the bottom of this post. Here are my November Goals! 1.  Decorate House for Christmas I have a Holiday Home Tour I am doing with some other bloggers in early December and I wanted to get a head start on my Christmas decor. I always decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving, but we are going to be busy and it'd be nice to decorate BE...
